Act Utilitarianism is the view that an act is right if its consequences are at least as good as those of any alternative.
Another way of expressing this view is that any action should aim at the greatest happiness of the greatest member of the people.
This view can be said to be consequentialist, welfare-oriented, aggregative, maximizing and impersonal.
