Ethics of Care is a feminine or gendered approach to moral philosophy.
Ethics of care argues from a traditionally “female” viewpoint that the most important virtues are taking care of others, being patient and nurturing, and being willing to sacrifice one’s own happiness so as to bring happiness to others.
In such a female viewpoint, the interests of those close to us are more important than those of strangers.
Ethics of care is an outgrowth of feminist theory, particularly the works of Annette Baier (1929–2012).
