Domain Name System translates human readable domain names (for example, www.google.com) to machine readable IP addresses (for example, 192.0.2.44). A domain name server is a computer that houses DNS zones of domain names.
India’s Public Domain Name Server would ensure a) fast access, b) enhanced availability, c) secure access, d) maintain data privacy, and e) data localization within India. It will be one of the key components to ensure Internet Resilience- the ability to provide and maintain an acceptable level of service in the face of faults and challenges to normal operation.
