Q. With reference to Natural Farming consider the following statements:
1.It does not involve the use of any external chemical or organic fertilizers in the soil.
2.It reduces the burden of subsidy on the government.
3.The water requirement for natural farming is more than the conventional farming.
Select the correct statements using the codes given below:

[A] 1 and 2 only

[B] 2 and 3 only

[C] 1 and 3 only

[D] 1, 2 and 3

Answer: A
Notes:

Statement 1 and 2 are correct. Natural farming does not involve the use of any external chemical or organic fertilizers in the soil. The decomposition of organic matter by microbes and earthworms is encouraged right on the soil surface itself, which gradually adds nutrition in the soil, over the period. This will in turn reduce the subsidy cost of the government.

Statement 3 is incorrect. Natural farming requires less water than conventional warming. One of the reasons behind it as the conventional farming focuses on high yield thus more irrigation is required for the growth of the crop whereas yield is lower in the natural farming compared to conventional farming.
