Wood snake, last seen in 1878, rediscovered by scientists

A survey conducted in the Meghamalai Wildlife Sanctuary has rediscovered Xylophis indicus,   species of wood snake. It is endemic to the Meghamalai forests and the Periyar Tiger Reserve landscape.
